The competition is on for the best places to work for 2022 in central Indiana.
The values ââand culture of a workplace are more important than ever as many people reexamine their priorities due to the pandemic. Now is the time to celebrate workplaces that do things right.
The rules are simple: anyone can propose a workplace in central Indiana with 50 or more employees that has exceptional qualities. The organization can be public, private, non-profit or a government entity. Applications can be submitted online at indystar.com/nominer or by phone at 317-288-3410.
Employees at designated workplaces will then rate their workplaces in a short 24-question survey. Assessment surveys will run from September to January and rankings will be released later in 2022.
Julie Wright, vice president of engagement at Royal United Mortgage, said the investigation results were thorough.
âYou can see how your organization is doing as a whole, but you can also see how different pockets or even different leaders are doing,â she said.
Royal United has been on the Central Indiana Best Places to Work list for 13 consecutive years. They started on the list as a small business in 2009, but now have 320 employees in Indiana and over 400 nationwide.
âI think being named one of the best places to work reflects that our people come first. It’s what sets us apart from other companies,â Wright said. “We know it helps our recruiting efforts and attracts the best talent.”
IndyStar partners with the research company Energage each year for the survey. Last year, they invited 1,474 organizations to participate, interviewed employees of 123 of them and recognized 89. Last year’s polls collected the opinions of more than 15,000 employees.
There are three categories of rankings: large organizations with over 400 employees, medium with 150 to 399 employees, and small with 50 to 149. The top organizations last year in each category were Salesforce, Front Porch Real Estate and Trueblood Real Estate.
Wright said the survey not only gives employees a voice to tell their organization what is working and what is not, but it also gives specific areas for improvement.
âIf you want to, you can really dig in and still find ways to constantly improve yourself,â Wright said.
Organizations from the following counties are eligible: Bartholomew, Boone, Brown, Clinton, Decatur, Delaware, Grant, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Henry, Johnson, Madison, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Putnam, Rush, Shelby, Tippecanoe and Tipton.
Applications close on October 29.
