The Spanish company Axial Structural presents a new type of tracker for agrivoltaic installations. The product can be adapted to various soil conditions and gradients, with programming to optimize light and shade for different crops in different climates.
From pv International magazine
Axial Structural, a manufacturer of racking systems based in Spain, has announced the launch of Agritracker, a solar tracker specially designed for agrivoltaic installations. The product allows easy optimization of light and shade periods to balance optimal growth for different types of crops with maximum energy production.
“The Agritracker adapts to the specific needs of each crop: it protects against bad weather and optimizes periods of light and shade”, specifies the company. pv review, adding that the tracker has been certified by TÃV Rheinland and is already available for sale.
Axial’s agrivoltaic solution can adapt to sloping land, and adapt to crops with different lighting needs planted under the same installation (vines, fruit trees and vegetables, for example). The system can adapt to very steep slopes and terrain dimensions. The modules can be installed at a height of up to 6.8 meters, allowing heavy agricultural machinery to pass underneath. The tracker supports up to 96 modules per engine and independent rows of up to 32 modules, divided into four groups of eight panels each.
âWith the Agritracker Shadow programming application, we can set the hours for tracking the sun or passing light for the entire system, and ensuring minimal shading of the crop when sunlight is needed. agricultural purposes, âexplained a representative of Axial. âWith the dynamic control system, we can also control specific positions at specific times, or manage the position of individual followers via ModBus Live Controlâ.
The company specifies that the mechanical elements making up the Agritracker are subject to the same load calculations, wind tunnel tests and other standards used in all Axial Tracker products. âIn this way, it is possible to size and secure the products against the climatic conditions of any area or region,â adds the company.
Axial has already installed the tracker on a project spread over three hectares of farmland in the south of France, the first project of a 100 MW pipeline for the technology that is expected to be implemented in the region over the next two years. âBesides France, Agritracker is arousing great interest in Italy, Spain and Israel. Our immediate goal is to implement the tracker in European markets, âsaid the representative of the company. review pv. The company also offers the tracker as a turnkey system solution.
